The Grade 4 Term 1 Examinations are prepared to help teachers evaluate how well learners have mastered the competencies taught throughout the first term. Unlike assessments that focus only on the most recent lessons, these materials provide a broader measure of learning by combining current and previously developed skills.
Coverage of the Examination
The tests primarily assess the learning competencies covered during Weeks 7–11. Selected critical competencies from the earlier part of Term 1 are also included to determine whether learners can retain, understand, and apply important concepts learned in previous weeks.
The examination coverage is guided by the Term 1 Budget of Work and the actual lessons delivered in the classroom. This helps maintain appropriate alignment between instruction and assessment.
40-Item Multiple-Choice Tests
Each Grade 4 subject examination consists of 40 multiple-choice items. Questions are developed with Bloom’s Taxonomy as a guide, providing a range of items that measure learners’ ability to recall information, demonstrate understanding, apply concepts, and use higher levels of thinking when appropriate.
The materials may help teachers lessen the time needed for test preparation while still allowing them to modify questions according to their learners’ needs, accomplished competencies, and classroom pacing.
Before administering the examinations, teachers should carefully check the content and make any necessary revisions to ensure that every item is suitable for their respective classes.
