Walang Pasok: Class Suspensions for Monday, August 17, 2026 Due to Habagat

Several local government units have announced the suspension of face-to-face classes for Monday, August 17, 2026, due to expected unfavorable weather conditions brought by the southwest monsoon or Habagat.

PAGASA said the southwest monsoon continues to affect the country, bringing rains over parts of Luzon.

The state weather bureau is also monitoring two low pressure areas (LPAs) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). As of 2 p.m., PAGASA said one of the LPAs was unlikely to develop into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours, while the other had a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the same period.

Due to the prevailing and expected weather conditions, several LGUs have suspended in-person classes or directed schools to shift to alternative learning modalities.

Below is the running list of class suspensions for Monday, August 17, 2026:

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)

Abra

  • No face-to-face classes from Kindergarten to Senior High School, public and private.

Benguet

  • Atok – No face-to-face classes from Preschool to Senior High School, public and private.

  • Itogon – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private.

Ilocos Region

Pangasinan

  • Bani – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to alternative delivery modalities.

  • Bayambang – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to alternative delivery modalities.

  • Binmaley – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to alternative delivery modalities.

  • Bugallon – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Classes will shift to modular distance learning.

  • Infanta – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to alternative delivery modalities or online classes.

  • Mangaldan – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to alternative delivery modalities.

Region III – Central Luzon

Pampanga

  • Masantol – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to an alternative mode of delivery.

  • Santo Tomas – No face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private. Schools will shift to an alternative mode of learning. The suspension will remain in effect until Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Parents, learners, teachers, and school personnel are advised to continue monitoring announcements from their respective LGUs and schools for possible changes or additional suspensions as weather conditions develop.
