Several local government units (LGUs) have announced the suspension of in-person classes for Monday, August 24, 2026, as the southwest monsoon or habagat continues to affect parts of the country.
Affected schools will temporarily shift to alternative learning modalities in areas where face-to-face classes have been suspended. Some LGUs have also announced alternative work arrangements or government work suspensions.
As of the latest announcements, the following areas are included:
Abra
- Abra – No in-person classes in both public and private schools. Classes will shift to alternative learning modalities. Government offices will also implement alternative work arrangements.
Benguet
- Atok – No in-person classes from preschool to senior high school in both public and private schools. Learners will shift to alternative learning modalities.
- Kibungan – No in-person classes in both public and private schools, all levels. Classes will shift to alternative learning modalities.
Pampanga
- Magalang – No in-person classes and government work in both public and private institutions in observance of the Feast of San Bartolome.
- San Simon – No in-person classes, all levels, both public and private schools from August 24-28, 2026. Learners will shift to alternative learning modalities.
- Sto. Tomas – No in-person classes, all levels, both public and private schools from August 24-28, 2026. Learners will shift to alternative learning modalities.
The list may be updated as more LGUs issue official announcements. Students, parents, teachers, and other concerned individuals are advised to monitor announcements from their respective local government units and schools for the latest information.
