The Grade 8 Term 1 Examination Materials are intended to support teachers in evaluating learners’ achievement after completing the first term. These tests bring together the major competencies covered in the latter weeks of instruction while also checking whether learners have retained important concepts introduced earlier.
The assessment primarily covers the competencies taught from Weeks 7–11. It also includes selected critical competencies from the earlier part of Term 1 to provide a more comprehensive picture of learners’ understanding, retention, and application of key skills.
Each examination is aligned with the Term 1 Budget of Work and the actual lessons taught in class. This helps ensure that the assessment reflects the expected learning outcomes and the content learners have encountered during instruction.
50-Item Test Format
Each Grade 8 subject examination contains 50 multiple-choice questions. The items are developed with Bloom’s Taxonomy as a guide so that the tests measure a range of cognitive skills, from recalling and explaining information to applying, analyzing, and evaluating concepts when appropriate.
Teachers may use these materials as a convenient reference for Term 1 assessment preparation. However, the test coverage should still be checked against the competencies actually completed in class, and items may be modified whenever necessary to match learner readiness and instructional pacing.
