As schools conclude each term, the End-of-Term Block provides a dedicated period for completing essential academic, administrative, professional development, and learner wellness activities without disrupting the regular Instructional Block.
Under the guidelines, the End-of-Term Block may include Academic Recovery for Accessible Learning (ARAL) Program sessions, computation of grades and completion of school forms, co-curricular and extracurricular activities, distribution of Progress or Performance Reports, In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET), and wellness breaks for both learners and teachers.
Schools are allowed to design and implement their own schedules based on their circumstances, provided that the required ARAL hours and the prescribed number of days for co-curricular and extracurricular activities, INSET, wellness breaks, and other authorized school programs are fully complied with.
End-of-Term Block: Minimum of 8 to Maximum of 10 Days
The End-of-Term Block shall generally be scheduled for a minimum of eight (8) days and a maximum of ten (10) days. This dedicated period is intended to safeguard instructional time while supporting the overall well-being and development of both learners and teachers.
For the standard 10-day model, the activities are generally organized as follows:
| Days | Activities |
|---|---|
| Days 1–5 | ARAL Program sessions; computation of grades and accomplishment of school forms; co-curricular and extracurricular activities |
| Day 6 | Distribution of Progress or Performance Reports |
| Days 7–8 | INSET for teachers; wellness break for learners |
| Days 9–10 | Wellness break for learners and teachers |
Days 1–5: ARAL, School Forms, and School Activities
During the first five days, schools may simultaneously conduct ARAL Program sessions, work on the computation of grades and completion of school forms, and implement authorized co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
These activities may include school-initiated programs and assemblies, intra-school academic, sports, and cultural competitions, division-level eliminations, and other authorized activities that do not interfere with the required End-of-Term Block activities.
Day 6: Distribution of Progress or Performance Reports
Day 6 is allotted for the distribution of learners' Progress Reports or Performance Reports.
Aside from releasing report cards, teachers may use this opportunity to meet with parents or legal guardians, discuss learners' academic performance and progress, and strengthen home-school collaboration.
Days 7–8: INSET for Teachers
Days 7 and 8 are intended for In-Service Training for Teachers (INSET). These two days provide the required 16-hour INSET per term as part of teachers' professional development.
Learners begin their wellness break during this period and may be provided with appropriate guided asynchronous activities focused on reflecting on their learning experiences during the term.
Days 7–10: Wellness Break for Learners
Learners are given a four-day wellness break from Days 7 to 10. This provides time for rest, reflection, and preparation for the succeeding term.
Where appropriate, schools may provide guided asynchronous activities focusing on learners' processing and reflection on their experiences during the completed term.
Days 9–10: Wellness Break for Teachers
Following the conduct of INSET, teachers are also provided a two-day wellness break on Days 9 and 10.
The break is intended to promote work-life balance and support teachers' physical and mental well-being before the start of the next term.
Model A.1: End-of-Term Block Schedule for 7:00 AM–1:00 PM
Under Model A.1, Days 1–5 include the computation of grades and accomplishment of school forms from 7:00–9:00 AM, followed by the ARAL Program from 9:00–10:00 AM. School-initiated programs and other authorized activities may be conducted from 10:00 AM onwards.
Model A.2: End-of-Term Block Schedule for 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
For schools operating on an 8:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, Model A.2 provides for the ARAL Program from 8:00–10:00 AM, followed by the computation of grades and accomplishment of school forms from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Other authorized school activities may be undertaken from 12:00 PM onwards.
Model B.1: End-of-Term Block Schedule for 7:00 AM–1:00 PM
Model B.1 presents another scheduling option for schools operating from 7:00 AM–1:00 PM.
In this model, the ARAL Program is scheduled from 7:00–8:00 AM, while the remaining period may be allocated to the computation of grades, completion of school forms, and authorized co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
Model B.2: End-of-Term Block Schedule for 9:00 AM–3:00 PM
For schools following a 9:00 AM–3:00 PM schedule, Model B.2 places the ARAL Program from 9:00–10:00 AM, with the succeeding hours allotted for the completion of grades and school forms and the conduct of authorized school activities.
Schools May Adopt Their Own End-of-Term Schedule
The schedules presented in the guidelines are model schedules. Schools are not necessarily required to follow exactly the same time arrangement shown in Models A.1, A.2, B.1, and B.2.
Schools may organize their End-of-Term Block according to local needs and circumstances, provided that all required activities, minimum ARAL hours, INSET requirements, wellness breaks, and prescribed school activities are properly completed.
The flexibility allows schools to select or develop a schedule that works best for their learners, teachers, and community while ensuring full compliance with the requirements of the End-of-Term Block.
