Weekly tests play an important role in helping Grade 1 learners build strong learning habits. At this stage, children are just beginning to read, write, and understand numbers. Short and simple weekly tests help teachers check if pupils are learning basic skills like recognizing letters, reading simple words, and counting numbers.
These tests also help young learners become familiar with answering questions independently. Instead of being afraid of tests, they learn that assessments are part of learning. Weekly tests guide teachers in knowing which pupils need more help and which lessons should be reviewed. For parents, these tests give a clear picture of their child’s progress in school.
Most importantly, weekly tests encourage consistency. When children know they will be assessed regularly, they practice more and develop discipline, focus, and confidence in learning.
